Champing teeth in annoyance
My shadow looms in the cast light.
The night is wearing on and
The giggles will not subside.
I am seeing two where there is one
From a bone weary exhaustion
When a second wind blows through
Carrying me to the kitchen.
The clang of dishes and brittle crack
Of the refrigerator being opened then swinging shut
Is the white noise they need
To finally fall asleep.
