55.

During a conversation with my husband about a musician we both like it was suggested to me that neither of us had been interested in her career because the tale spun but the record company carried the odor of victim parlaying trauma to talent. But this is not the case with this musician. I had for years picked up her record and put it down again, assured I would not like it with nothing to go on other than reviews and blurbs, I ignored the hoopla.

Leading me to believe yet again that it makes everyone feel better if a woman is a victim rather than a human cycling through life, rocky places and all.

A man drinking hard and roughing it is romantic, a woman doing the same is terrifying. And her validity only comes from things done to her.
