our perfect alibis

I was nursing the baby.

Somebody had to check for eggs.

There was traffic.

I was reading.

The garden needed weeding.


In this very full house and very full life 

Husband and I need a break now and then.

A break never feels justified

and so we make excuses.

As a mama,

I have the super power of tuning out.

In the center of the vortex

I check out for a few minutes at a time .

I take a day off without taking a day off with

paper diapers (Husband checked to make sure I kept my word)
